Paul Sternberg, Jr., M.D.

Professor and Chief of Ophthalmology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He is a respected vitreoretinal specialist with recognized expertise in age-related macula degeneration, retinopathy of prematurity and ocular trauma. Dr. Sternberg has made major contributions to the understanding of the pathogenesis of age-related macular degeneration, studying the role of oxidative stress in retinal pigment epithelial cell death and the protective effect of antioxidant systems. His numerous awards, include the Lew Wasserman Award of Merit from Research to Prevent Blindness and the Senior Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He currently serves as Secretary of Communications for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and serves on the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Eye Institute.
 
 

Roger F. Steinert, M.D.

Co-chair and Professor of Ophthalmology, University of California, Irvine. Dr. Steinert is known worldwide for his expertise in cataract, refractive and corneal surgery. He lectures extensively in the U.S. and abroad and has been visiting Professor at numerous academic and eye care institutions. His textbook, "Cataract Surgery", is acclaimed as the definitive reference for surgical technique and management of complications. Dr. Steinert is a Fellow, and serves as an Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. He also serves on the Editorial Boards of four major journals: Ophthalmology, The Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, The Journal of Refractive Surgery, and Ophthalmic Surgery and Lasers. He is currently president of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
 
 

Stephen G. Slade, MD

Clinical Faculty, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Texas Medical School, Houston. Dr. Slade has served as Co-Medical Director of TLC, The Laser Center, Medical Director of Project ORBIS, and Chair of the Refractive Surgery Section of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is a two-time recipient of the China Service Medal, presented by the Ministry of Health of the Peoples Republic of China for service in fighting blindness, and has been given the American Academy of Ophthalmolgy Honor Award. One of the leading laser surgeons in America, Dr. Slade has been named by his peers one of the Best Doctors in America in recognition of his teaching and clinical research.
 
 

Robert H. Osher, MD

Professor of Ophthalmology at the College of Medicine of the University of Cincinnati and Medical Director Emeritus of the Cincinnati Eye Institute. His lectures have been presented to medical societies in more than 35 countries and he has co-authored several textbooks in his subspecialty. He serves as editor of the Video Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Video Textbook of Viscosurgery, and International Advances in Phacoemulsification. He has served on the executive committee of the Outpatient Surgery Society and is the international editor of the Brazilian journal FOCO.
 
 

Randall J. Olson, MD

John A. Moran Presidential Chair and Chair of the Department Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Olson specializes in corneal and external eye diseases and anterior segment disorders. His Department, known far and wide for its retinal physiology and basic genetics research, has been a leading force in the understanding of complications associated with intraocular lenses and is recognized internationally for this research. Research studies performed by Dr. Olson and his colleagues at the Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City have led to technical advances in corneal surgery, phacoemulsification and small incision cataract surgery. Named four times to "Best Doctors in America," he was recently selected as one of the fifteen top experts in the field of cataract surgery in the United States in a survey of his peers conducted by Ophthalmology Times Magazine. As of today, he is the author of more than 200 professional publications.
 
 

Marguerite B. McDonald, MD

Private practice: Ophthalmology Consultants of Long Island, New York. Dr. McDonald has served as Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology, Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Chief Medical Editor, Eye World Magazine. She is a Board Member, Women in Ophthalmology and President, Association of Women Eye Surgeons. She has served as member of the Board of Directors of the Pan American Association of Ophthalmology, and Member, Long Range Planning Committee, American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is Past President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
 
 

Richard Lindstrom, MD

Professor of Ophthalmology, University of Minnesota; Medical Director, Phillips Eye Institute Center for Teaching & Research, a state of the art ophthalmic research and surgical skills education facility. Managing partner in Minnesota Eye Consultants and an attending surgeon at the Phillips Eye Institute and Minnesota Eye and Laser Surgery Center in Minneapolis. He also serves as an Associate Director of the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank. He is Medical Director of Laser Vision Centers, Inc. He is current President of the International Refractive Surgery Club (IRSC) and President Elect of the International Intraocular Implant Club (IIIC).
 
 

Malcolm R. Ing, MD

Professor and Chair of Ophthalmology at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii. He is a Charter Member of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology, served as an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is the author of over 80 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Dr. Ing is a member of the American Ophthalmological Society and has been named by his peers in the Best Doctors in America. He has maintained a lifelong interest in the prevention of eye disease by dietary and nutritional supplements. Dr. Ing was motivated by his Chinese physician father, who informed him as a youngster that in the ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine, the practitioners were paid by their patients to keep them well, rather than merely treating them when they were afflicted by disease.
 
 

Jack Holladay, MD

Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He specializes in refractive surgery, which includes LASIK, laser vision correction, and PRK. He has been the recipient of numerous honors for his excellence in teaching in universities and eye societies around the world. Dr. Holladay serves on the editorial boards of several of the leading publications in ophthalmology and has been acknowledged as one of the "Best Doctors in America", and Inside Houston Magazine named him one of the "Top Doctors in Houston. He has written over 96 scientific articles, 30 book chapters, and authored or edited 5 books. Because of his service to the American Academy of Ophthalmology and his teaching contributions at its annual meetings, he received its Honor Award in 1985, and recently, the AAO Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration for his service on the FDA Ophthalmic Device Panel.

President, American Board of Eye Surgery; He has served as Visiting Professor in Ophthalmology in Universities in Zaire, South Africa, Mexico, India and China. He founded Eagle Vision Company, the manufacturer of the Freeman Punctum Plugs, and was founder of the World Cataract Foundation, and Founder and Director of the Memphis Eye and Cataract Associates, Laser and Surgery Center (MECA), and is Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology, University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, TN.
 
 

Darrell P. Williams, MD

Medical Director of Trinity Regional Eye Care Williams Center. Dr. Williams established The Williams Medical Eye Center in 1984 which specializes in cataract and laser vision correction. His practice has grown to include comprehensive medical and surgical eye care services. He received his M.D. from Vanderbilt University of Wisconsin-Milkaukee and is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine, Gran Forks. Dr. Williams is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology/International Society of Refractive Surgeons.

John W. Lahr, OD, FAAO

Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Has served in a number of leadership positions in the American Optometric Association and has served as a member of the Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee to develop practice standards for optometry. He was the AOA's first representative to the American Medical Association's CPT coding Health Care Professional's Advisory Committee. He is a well known lecturer nationally and internationally. Dr. Lahr is an Editorial Board member for Optometric Management and currently serves as the Director of Primary Eye Services for STAAR Surgical, Inc. and Director for Professional Services for EyeMed Vision Care.
 
 

William B. Rafferty, OD, FAAO

Dr. Rafferty is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Optometric Services at the Duke University Eye Center in Durham, NC. He also serves as the Director of Extern Programs and he is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Optometry at the University of Alabama in Birmingham School of Optometry. Dr. Rafferty specializes in Cornea and External Ocular Disease and conducts a specialty clinic in Ocular Surface Diseases including Dry Eye Disease and Ocular Allergy.

Marsha Raanan, MS

Consulting Biostatistician for Venturi Technology Partners, currently contracted by Pfizer. Ms Rannan was the former biostatistician project manager for The Center for Clinical Research in Chicago. While in this position she was responsible for the study/protocol design for a number of Phase III and Phase IV clinical studies, including preparation of statistical summaries for PMA submissions and FDA-related analytic and writing activities for IDE studies, including responses to FDA. Daniele Aron Rosa, MD

Inventor of the YAG Laser for the treatment of posterior capsule opacity (secondary cataract), Dr. Aron Rosa has served as Professor and Chair of Ophthalmology at Hospital Robert Debre and Foundation Rothschild, Paris. She is one of the leading international educators in ophthalmology and is the only woman to be named to the Ophthalmology Hall of Fame and one of a select few women ever to be named Officer of the French Legion of Honor. She has served on the International Committee for Quality Control of Ophthalmic Instruments and Devices, and Faculty of the ASCRS International Film Festival, among other important leadership positions. NOEL ALPINS, MD

Medical Director of NewVision Clinics, Melbourne, Australia, associate fellow at the University of Melbourne and a fellow of the American Board of Eye Surgeons. Dr. Alpins has developed new techniques in the treatment and analysis of astigmatism, and holds patents in astigmatism treatment and analysis in the USA and internationally. He has developed the ASSORT computer program for vector planning and outcomes analysis of cataract and refractive surgery. Dr Alpins has spoken widely on refractive surgery topics, and has been a keynote speaker to the International Intraocular Implant Club, of which he is a member. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, EuroTimes and Ocular Surgery News, and has published widely in these and other ophthalmic information journals and book chapters. Professor, Clinical Faculty of Ophthalmology, Chief of Ophthalmic Neuroscience Program, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Semmelweis University, Budapest Hungary. Dr. Feher has served as Chief of the Electron Microscopy Laboratory at both universities. He also served as the Editor-in-Chief of the monograph series entitled “Pathophysiology of the Eye” and has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Feher conducted the groundbreaking Omega-3 mitotropic compound studies dedicated to improved cellular energy production, as it relates to AMD.
 
 

David Jory, MD, BS, FRCS(C), FRCOphth

Dr. Jory is the managing director of the Harley Street Ultralase Centre, London, UK and specialist in astigmatism, keratoconus, post-Lasik ectasia and presbyopia. He is an internationally recognized leader in refractive procedures, lecturing in Europe and the US, and a regular presenter of refractive surgery research and multifocal IOL implant papers at international meetings in Europe and the US. Dr. Jan Talma, M.B.Ch.B-Medicine, M.Med. (Ophth), Pretoria, Republic of South Africa. Dr. Talma is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Pretoria. He is Director and co-founder of the Pretoria Eye Institute. He serves as President of the Ophthalmological Society of South Africa and President of the South African Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Talma represents the surgery disciplines in the National Medical Council of RSA and is a Director of the South African Medical Association. He is an active scuba diver and instructor for underwater medicine, in addition to being an active mountain climber. He is a member of the South African Glaucoma Society and the South African Vitreo-Retinal Society and active in the United Nations projects for free cataract surgery for the needy population of South Africa.

Leading Japanese Ophthalmologist and internationally recognized leader in Anterior Ciliary Sclerotomy for Presbyopia reversal and glaucoma control. Dr Fukasaku was the first to teach Phacoemulsification and the first to teach Refractive surgery in Japan.
