Spencer Thornton, MD, The AECOS Interview

Friday, March 31, 2017

I have been saving this slightly edited and delightfully charming American-European Congress of Ophthalmic Surgery (AECOS) Aspen interview as a surprise for my mentor and dear friend, Spencer Thornton, MD, and for a special December holiday treat for our readers from the Biosyntrx Sunday Morning Stop at the Intersection of Science, Art, Music and Humanities.

AECOS is dedicated to advancing vision care and improving patients' quality of life through innovation—and we might add, True North positive impact, which mirrors the mission and core values of Biosyntrx.

I promise you will enjoy watching the great fun interview, and you will certainly learn a lot about Dr. Thornton, the president, chief medical officer and co-founder of Biosyntrx.

The event, titled The Coleman Show, also featured Stephen Coleman, MD, the delightfully brilliant and innovative surgeon- owner of Coleman Vision in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Dr. Coleman was a Division 1 college tennis player and he is the sponsor of the 18-year-old New Mexico Coleman Vision Tennis Championships: the woman's professional tournament held every year three weeks after the U.S. Open. It attracts players from all over the world including Brazil, the Czech Republic, France, Japan and Russia. Coleman also attracts more than 100 volunteers for this project. All proceeds from the Championships and his tennis clinics go to the New Mexico Youth Tennis Foundation for after-school programs.

After watching this interview, it's easy to see why these two visionary men with stunning impact now refer to each other as "my new best friend."
