Roberto Pinelli, MD
Scientific Director of Istituto Laser Microchirurgia Oculare in Brescia, Italy. He is a member of the International Intra-Ocular Implant Club (IIIC), a member of the Executive Committee of the International Society of Refractive Surgery of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (ISRS/AAO) and the editorial board of the Journal of Refractive Surgery. He is an innovator in the treatment of keratoconus through a modification of the collagen cross-linking technique without removing the corneal epithelium: Transepithelial Collagen Cross-Linking (TcXL) adds to the irradiation of ultraviolet rays a new chemical formula with riboflavin (internationally patented). His skills also include anterior chamber surgery, such as refractive cataract, refractive lensectomy, and intra-ocular lenses (IOL’s). He is devoted to voluntary missions to bring eye surgery to limited-resources countries.
