Biosyntrx Appoints Two New Board Members

Biosyntrx, Inc., a privately held eye-care-focused nutritional biotechnology company, leads the ophthalmic supplement industry with top quality formulas with meticulous attention paid to formulation design and raw ingredient selection.

Thomas Leland, MD, PhD,  
Dr. Leland is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina. He also earned a PhD from Clemson in Physiology and Statistics. He has been a private practice Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmology Clinical Instructor and Staff Surgeon since 1979 in the Department of Ophthalmology, Storm Eye Institute, Charleston, SC. Dr. Leland also founded Carolina Balance Medicine Associates, a physician group combining the specialties of Ophthalmology, Neurology, Otolaryngology, and Neuro-Ophthalmology.  This organization is now the Fall Prevention Alliance.  According to the CDC, the U.S. medical costs associated with falls and fractures  exceeds $40 billion a year. 

Imre Lengyel, PhD
Dr. Lengyel is a well-published and esteemed zinc researcher at the Institute of Ophthalmology at University College London.  He is also one of the founders of the prestigious research organization Zinc-UK, and one of the grant holders of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology, Zinc-Net.  Dr. Lengyel’s research focus is on the role zinc plays in eye and brain health.  The World Health Organization  lists zinc imbalance /or deficiency as the 11th leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide.
